Tax Director (Hedge Fund)

About the Company:
Our client, a high growth New York City based multi-manager hedge fund with $6 billion is looking to hire their first tax professional. The firm manages capital for investors in a highly diversified portfolio of investment strategies, asset classes and geographies.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the Chief Financial Officer on all firm-wide taxation initiatives
- Manage all aspects of tax function with relation to all investment vehicles as well as management company/general partnership vehicles
- Work with external tax preparer to complete and to subsequently review year-end tax workpapers and associated investor, vendor, and regulator deliverables (1099s, K1s, tax returns, etc.)
- Responsible for timely filing of founder tax returns and quarterly estimates
- Research and implement tax efficiency programs
- Communicate the companies tax situation to current and prospective limited partners
- Work with the data team to focus on automation of tax-related processes
- Spearhead the review of tax-related filings pertaining to foreign offices and offshore subsidiary entities
- Review tax-related impact of international holdings on US based entities
- Liaise with the General Counsel and legal team regarding quarterly and annual regulatory reporting
- Work alongside the Chief Financial Officer, Controllers and existing finance team to assist in all aspects of accounting, reconciliation, treasury, reporting, and related functions, as needed
Requirements:
- 7-10 years of alternative asset tax experience out of Public Accounting or a Direct Fund
- Proficient in Excel, detail oriented, ability to multi-task, excellent work ethic and strong interpersonal skills required
