About the Company:
Our client, is a top family office in NYC looking to hire a Senior Tax Associate. This role is based in New York City reporting to their Director of Tax.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the review of partnership tax returns including associated K-1s for private equity and hedge funds
- Review tax estimates and final tax schedules for more than 20 entities, comprised of a diversified group of investors
- Coordinate and review tax allocations of partnership income, inclusive of special allocations and basis tracking
- Gather and analyze complex financial information related to tax reform, PFIC, CFCs, etc.
- Assist in gathering, assembling, and preparing supplemental foreign filing forms, including: Form 1042, 8865, 8858, 5471, 8621, and 926
- Manage the tax compliance process, research complex tax issues and supervise service providers to deliver accurate tax reporting
- Assist Client Service, Legal, Compliance, Advisory, and Front Office teams in fulfilling tax-related requests
- Provide coaching and training to the Fund Accounting team regarding tax issues
- Participate in ad hoc special projects and help develop process improvements related to increasing efficiency of the group
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or taxation
- Licensed CPA
- 3-6 years of professional experience with a strong background in partnership taxation with an emphasis on private equity and hedge funds and the flow through treatment to investors
- Extensive knowledge of investment fund tax accounting concepts including partnership tax accounting, tax allocations, and management and incentive fees
- Direct experience working with carried interest provisions and comfortable with the following concepts: distribution waterfalls, return of capital, preferred returns, catch-up tranche, hurdle rates, and “clawback” provisions
- Exposure across asset classes including equities, fixed income, repurchase agreements, futures, FX, and OTC products
- Experience structuring funds with domestic and foreign investors
- Strong Excel skills and knowledge of tax systems are required; exposure to Advent Geneva or experience using accounting and general ledger systems a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and an interest in engaging with investors, finance/tax colleagues, and senior management
Compensation & Benefits:
- $90,000-$125,000 Base Salary
